In January 2018, as a result of the merger of the two departments, the Department of Intellectual Property and Project Management (IP and PM) was created, headed by Nataliya Petrovna Korogod. Since 2022, the Acting Head of the IP and PM Department has been Professor Vitaliy Oleksandrovych Petrenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences.
The IP and PM Department has been carrying out the educational process of training masters in the educational and professional programs (EPP) "Intellectual Property" and "Project Management" in the specialty 073 "Management" in full-time and part-time forms of study (on the basis of a bachelor's degree)
Since 2021, the IP and PM Department has begun training bachelors in the educational and professional program (EPP) "Project Management" in the specialty 073 management of the bachelor's level of education.
Since 2024, training in the specialty D3-management has been carried out under the combined OPP Management and Administration of the bachelor's level of education, where the department trains students in the block of professional components of the practical profile "PROJECT MANAGEMENT" of full-time and part-time education. Studying under the block of professional components of the practical profile "PROJECT MANAGEMENT" of the bachelor's level of education, students gain knowledge and skills in: principles, methods and tools of project management, as well as studying issues of planning, control, organization, motivation and coordination within the project. The content of the academic disciplines includes: project content management, project management decision-making, project stakeholders, project resource provision, project risks and their management, project quality management, etc.
Since 2026, the department has been accepting and training in the master's degree in two blocks of professional components of the practical profiles "PROJECT MANAGEMENT" and "INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT" within the framework of the combined OPP "Business Administration" full-time and part-time study.
Studying in the practical profile "PROJECT MANAGEMENT" of the master's level of education, students gain knowledge and skills in such disciplines as: Project content management, Project management in information technologies, Project team management and leadership development, Project management organizational structures, Project information and communication integration, Project quality and risk management, Methods and technologies for making effective decisions in a project, Management of the development and implementation of project solutions and their information support, Marketing research and strategies in the development and implementation of a project, Strategic management of programs and project portfolios.
Graduates who studied in the practical profile "PROJECT MANAGEMENT" of the master's level of education master the technologies for identifying and justifying management decisions; tools for effective project interaction, leadership development and teamwork; software tools and information technologies for project management; risk management and alternative scenarios for project development within the strategic goals of the organization.
Studying in the practical profile "INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT", students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to solve issues of legal protection, economic problems, commercialization and protection of intellectual property rights (IP). The content of the academic disciplines includes: industrial property law, copyright and related law and their protection, IP economics, acquisition of IP rights, IP marketing, patent and information research, IP management, etc. In modern conditions of development of international economic integration, objects of IP law, such as inventions, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, know-how, computer programs, works of literature and art, etc., provide competitiveness and additional profit to the enterprise. The main source of success is the totality of knowledge possessed by an enterprise or organization, the so-called intellectual capital, the main component of which is intellectual property. In addition, graduates of this profile will be able to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of management of innovative and legal activities, which involves the application of management theory, management of innovative activities, innovative technologies and projects, legal support for innovative activities, acquisition of rights to intellectual property objects, scientific and technical and information activities, technology transfer based on making management decisions in conditions characterized by complexity and uncertainty. That is why specialists in "INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT" are becoming increasingly in demand in the labor market. The demand for specialists in the field of IP is growing rapidly. Today, every creator, author of IP objects must be able to protect the results of their creative activity and know the mechanism of their commercialization as a special type of product (service).
In 2023, the department made the first set of masters in the OPP "Compliance of metallurgical production" specialty 136 Metallurgy.
