Excursion - quest for schoolchildren "Code of the future: man, metal, artificial intelligence"
On the initiative of the Department of International Economics, Management, and Social Sciences and Humanities, on April 28, 2026, a quest tour titled “Code of the Future: Man, Metal, Artificial Intelligence” was conducted for students of the municipal educational institution “Educational Complex No. 66”; Gymnasiums No. 73 and No. 79.
The main story of the quest was presented by Associate Professors Alisa Kramarenko and Tetiana Lysenko of the Department of International Economics, Management, and Social Sciences and Humanities: “Today you will witness two powerful forces: the unbridled energy of molten metal and the cold calculation of robots. But remember, it is humans who unite them to build civilization. Your goal is to prove that you are capable of mastering both elements using your own intellect.”
The first stop was the cybermetallurgy lab (Department of Production Process Automation). The students learned about the operation of mini-manipulators and models of modern automation equipment.
The department chair, Associate Professor Maria Rybachenko, gave a very interesting presentation about the department’s curriculum. She demonstrated mini-models of product packaging, a modern “smart home” model, and more.
The next stop is the Blast Furnace (Department of Iron and Steel Metallurgy). Maksym Boiko, an associate professor in the Department of Iron and Steel Metallurgy, spoke about the organization and technology of blast furnace production.
Maksym led an interactive activity with the students called “Temperature Control”—using cards featuring the colors of heated metal. The students arranged the colored cards along a scale ranging from cool cherry to sunny white, and tried to guess at what temperature the metal forms.
The next location is the "Uniting Worlds" meeting point at the Department of International Economics, Management, and Social Sciences & Humanities.
Viktor Tarasevich, Head of the Department and Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, tells the students about the majors offered by the department: F4 Systems Analysis and Data Science; C1 Economics and International Economic Relations; D3 Management. These specializations form a unified triangle of success: systems analysis provides knowledge of the present and forecasts for the future; international economics opens the door to global markets; and management ensures the effective management of these processes.
The quest "Code of the Future: Man, Metal, Artificial Intelligence" symbolizes the unity of harnessing the power of metal, creating artificial intelligence systems, and human control over technological and economic processes.
The final location is the main entrance to the institute and the "capsule of the future"!
Standing by the commemorative stone containing the “time capsule,” Mykola Myronenko, a professor in the Department of International Economics, Management, and Social Sciences and Humanities, spoke about the tradition of placing a letter to future students and faculty members every 25 years.
The tradition was started by the Department of Steel Metallurgy in 1974, when the first letter was placed. The second letter was placed in 1999. A new message is currently being prepared with hopes for a peaceful future.
The staff of the departments of International Economics, Management, and Social Sciences and Humanities; Production Process Automation; and the Department of Iron and Steel Metallurgy would like to thank the organizers and participants of the excursion, in particular: Deputy Principal Ilya Vladimirovich Toldaev and Principal Oleksandra Semenivna Kuzik of the municipal educational institution “Educational Complex No. 66” (“Gymnasium – Elementary School – Preschool”); Marina Volodymyrivna Kozik, Director of Gymnasium No. 73; and Yevhen Anatoliyovych Samoilenko, Director of Gymnasium No. 79.
