Saving Lives Together: Blood Donor Day in Dnipro!
Every year on June 14, Ukraine celebrates Blood Donor Day. It coincides with World Blood Donor Day, which further underscores the importance of this event.
June 14, 2026, was no exception. Despite it being a day off, employees of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross, together with student representatives from the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology—specifically from the Department of International Economics, Management, and Social Sciences and Humanities—joined this charitable initiative.
Volunteers and specialists visited the regional blood center (the “Dnipropetrovsk Regional Blood Service Center,” a municipal non-profit enterprise of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council) on Bohdan Khmelnytsky Avenue with the noble goal of joining the ranks of our city’s blood donors.
In these times of war, such an event takes on new significance and once again underscores the concern shown by our city’s residents for the needs of the soldiers who have been defending our homeland from uninvited Russian invaders since the spring of 2014.
It goes without saying that every drop of blood donated by a donor represents a life saved, someone’s hope, and a chance at recovery.
We would also like to note that Iryna Volodymyrivna Usichenko, an associate professor in our department, has been volunteering for several years with the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross and has considerable experience in providing humanitarian aid to residents of frontline areas in our country.
In addition, students are constantly being trained in first aid in case of accidents caused by shelling by representatives of the aggressor state.
Thank you to every donor!
Your blood saves lives.
Your compassion inspires us.
